"Ask A Doc" sessions provide members with a unique opportunity to engage with our ADHD expert physicians. This particular session with Dr. Nichols on questions centered around the reasons for various treatments for ADHD, including medication and supplements/vitamins, the importance of parental education and training, skills training, helpful school accommodations as well as the importance of a healthy diet, sleep, exercise and limited technology for the ADHD brain.

All questions concerning the treatment of children and teens with ADHD are welcome.

Dr. Alphonso Nichols, earned his medical degree at the University of Louisville, completed psychiatric residency training at the University of Cincinnati, and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Louisville. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. During training, he served as Chief Resident in Child Psychiatry and received numerous clinical and teaching awards, including several awards for Humanism in Medicine. He went on to serve on the full-time teaching faculty at the University of Louisville, where he served as medical director of the psychiatry unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital and was awarded the ‘Golden Apple’ teaching award. After earning a reputation in our community as an extremely competent, caring, and highly respected clinician, Dr. Nichols was recruited to join our practice full time in 2013.

Dr. Nichols has extensive experience and expertise in treating Children and Teens who struggle with emotional difficulties, Depression, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, OCD, PTSD, Autism, and a variety of other conditions.
